I just got hired at publix to work in the deli. I was told i will need to go to an orientation for like 4 1/2 hours. ... has anyone been through one of these?? I was told to dress business casual...will i actually be trained hands on behind the deli?? or will it be like classes and videos and speeches??Thanks

no no i worked at publix and orientation is just to make you familiar with publix policies and what not. they give you an idea of the store and they have a break with food and drink. it's not bad. do dress nice though, like a polo and khaki's

It's probably more like the classes/videos kind of thing. I'd wear something like a polo shirt with a collar and khaki pants, not sneakers or dress shoes.

You'll find out when you get there.

Your orientaton will not include hands-on work. It will be going over corporate policies, rules, sexual harassment, attendance, paychecks, etc. Very generic. New hires form other depts. will be ther as well.

You will not get any hands-on training until you start your first shift in the deli
