I'd like to start a competition in inner cities where children from low income families have a chance to compete for academic achievements on standardized tests. The prizes would be cash money.

I did not set out in life to become a millionaire. If I were to win a lottery or otherwise get a million bucks in one lump I would probably pass out from shock. Then I would probably have to pay nearly a million for medical treatment to heal the trauma incurred when I struck my head in falling from that faint. If there were anything left over I would invest it in a good cause.
According to Aristotle's "Law of the golden mean" one should do and desire everything in moderation, nothing in excess. So I would consider it very bad luck to be given a million and since my philosophical learning has been that wealth, power and fame are the three "seducers" of mankind I would consider the gain of such a sum to be very bad form.
Good luck in getting out from under the burden of desiring to get rich, good mental health, peace and love!

I don't want to be rich because then I would have to maintain everything I would buy, and I would be worried about people attacking me and trying to take my riches.
However, if I had $1 million, I would donate $250,000 to the Watchtower and Bible Tract Society, I would give $250,000 to my mother to pay off her bills, and with the rest I would pay off my bills, buy a new car, and buy a pedal harp. That would leave $400,000 which I would put in my savings account.

To most people who have earned (?) a million dollars, a million dollars isn't enough because their neighbor has two million dollars. Then, when they make(?) two million dollars, it isn't enough because their other neighbor has three million dollars, then...well, anyway, just ask yourself how much is enough, then when you have it, invest it in an annuity, retire young and live like a king for the rest of your life...and your childrens' and their childrens'...
