Love Story by Erich Segal - 224 pages ... very sad story. A true classic from the 60's.
A little longer ... Joy in the Morning by Betty Smith - 304 pages - another classic from the 60's ...

Sorry, cannot help you. I haven't read a book in over 30 years that has less than 350 pages. The more the merrier. Longest book I ever read was Shogun at 1583 pages. Took me 2 and a half days.

A bit of romance, historic fiction, a modern classic, and tragic, also beautifully written. It took me around 4 hours to read this book, I couldn't put it down!
