He was talking about those who are retired, or no longer in the service, who are critical of President Bush and his administration's lack of tatical strategy in the Iraq war. Maj. Gen. John Batiste, retired Army and a much experienced and decorated man spoke on MSNBC today and said that the percentage of military personnel who disapprove of Bush and his war is about the same as the whole country...70% against the war.

Add: You conservatives could be right...I saw only part of Limbaugh's show (can't handle much of it). I think, however, that Maj.Gen. Batiste was just talking about how the milirary REALLY feels, not what they SEEM to feel. Anyway, I simply trying to find some truth in this really screwed up world!

I am a Veteran and I am against the war, Bush for a person who never served one day in the regular service, is calling the shots on this "lost Cause" for oil. I am not anti US
Army as I have family members fighting in that war.
Rush Limbaugh , is a dope fiend and the court ruling in the Fox Case that Media( could misrepresent) the facts to the public. Who would put any faith into what that fat coward says.

Actually Rush was discussing one person as a "phony soldier" and that was Jesse MacBeth...... and NOT the retured, or those no longer in service. It's amazing how the liberal media and YOU will take things out of context.........Do you really beleive everything you hear on TV? The general must be spouting from a liberal survey!

He was taken out of context. Read this -
For the rest of the story, you need to know what he was talking about. I was shocked when I first heard that he had said that, so I looked into it a little bit more.
Limbaugh today maintained that he was not speaking on his show Wednesday about soldiers who oppose the war in general, but rather one “phony soldier.’’ That would be Jesse MacBeth, who stoked opposition to the war last year speaking out about atrocities he committed as an Army Ranger. MacBeth, 23, of Tacoma, Wash., claimed to have killed more than 200 people, many at close range, some at prayer in mosques.
The only problem with MacBeth’s story was MacBeth himself: He had finished only six weeks of Army basic training, was never a Ranger and never deployed in Iraq. After conservative bloggers exposed him last year, he faced further trouble: Pleading guilty in June in federal court in Seattle to one count of making false statements to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

who are you 70%against Bush? reasonable men and women or those on whom scriptings have been made ( mostly by gossips) without going to reason about the state of world politics and the uncertain future with suicide bombers around? Perhaps the RL you are referring to would like the bombers to be at their doors the shout for help where none can hear him ( for rescue)except himself!

I believe Rush's comments were taken out of context. Go to his website and hear the entire broadcast and see for yourself. I do not believe that there are 70% of military personnnel who are disapproving of Bush and the war (not his war, by the way!!) I know people who are serving there and have gone back on three and four missions. They say that there are marked improvements and that people are happy to have us there. I know you won't hear that on the liberal broadcasts. I listened to Petraeus and I believe he told the truth. See the twists and how the comments of republicans and talk radio hosts are taken out of context to make them sound totally different. It is a disgrace. Just like the NY Times making up "facts" to get their false points across. Disgusting!!

No, No, NO gramma he was not talking about retired soldiers. If you had listened to him and not Media Matters then you would have heard him referring to people claiming to have participated in atrocities while in Iraq but were never in the country and some never in the army. In this case a man only in the Army for 44 days. Don't believe the lies. Rush posted the exchange on youtube. Listen, make your own judgement and then know who lied to you.

"Phony Soldiers" Is a Phony Story

Considering Rush Limbaugh and many other conservatives contrived to avoid service in the military, what the heck does he know about "phony soldiers"? If he truly supports the soldiers--and I think conservahawks support the war but not the soldiers--he won't criticize them for their disapproval of the war.

All I know about this is what you say here. If you are saying that he said that any soldier that is against the war is a "phony soldier" then well that would be a typically nonsensical Rush statement.
