101 is a good temp at that age. i would definetely call the doc, and start some tylenol. Could be an ear infection. If your pediatrician has Sat hours you could likely get an appointment for the morning. With my kids at this age I took them to the doc, they can't tell you what hurts so they have to be checked out. Could be nothing, and so long as you keep the fever down and keep him comfortable it can probably wait till tomorrow.
Alot of people are suggesting the hospital, but this is not necessary. Fevers serve a purpose, they create a temperature higher than most bacteria can tolerate - killing them. Fevers can be dangerous but not until they reach a higher temp (104+). Most pediatricians want to see babies w/fevers at 101, but this is not an emergency situation. Call your doc, they will give you his proper tylenol dosage and his fever will go down w/in 30 minutes.

I know you have already given him the Tylenol, but that was not such a great idea. Fevers are good for you. Heat kills infection. A fever is the body's way of killing infection. Tylenol masks symptoms temporarily and ultimately slows down the body's ability to deal with the infection. Also, the FDA is working on taking infant acetaminophen off the shelves. Death is a side effect. Now, don't freak out-- I was stuffed with the stuff as a baby and I'm fine. Most Americans have been, and are fine. I just feel that the Tylenol is a little bit of a bigger issue than the night clothes. As far as the night clothes go, if you feel that your child is over-heated you should dress him in cooler clothes. Sweating out a fever does more harm than good.

Call a nurse - most hospitals have a 24 hour nurse line that helps a lot. My son had a fever at 101 a few months ago and was basically told to watch for signs of dehydration. I don't think you need to RUSH him to the ER immediately unless you don't have someone you can talk to.

Hmmm... well at 4 mths my daughter started teething, and she had a fever as well and was very fussy also... have you given him any motrin or infant tylenol to help with the fever? I hope he feels better... I would try and give him a little bit of medicine before taking him to the dr or hospital, because the first thing they are going to ask you when you take him is... "Did you give him motrin or tylenol"... I heard that so many times it's not even funny...

call your doctor and ask for advice. Children's Tylenol (the liquid kind) might have the recommended dosage on the box for a child that young.

i would do the tylenol and wait one hour while rechecking temp regularly at 15 min intervals. if drops after 1 hour recheck hourly and re-administer tylenol as needed. may want to use motrin or even alternate the two.

You should call your doctor for advice because of his age. Don't give him anything yet. He may ask you to bring him in.

kids can withstand a much higher temp. than adults, but even so I would call your doctor (the should have some kind of 24 hr. contact number) and ask them.
