Didn't you know that it is as simple as getting a faster broadband connection? There's nothing you can do to speed up internet if your connection is cheap and slow.

It all depned on what kind of laptop you use and what type of Internet plan you are using actually
http://www.earnseek.com/cgi-bin/search/go.cgi?id=167
You certainly can try all sort of tricks to spped up your connection but cold true is there is no way for you to make fast an old Ford truck unless you let a 2007 engine take place on it!
so the engine will be the plan you will use from now on once switched to a new and better service, that will be all
by the way I pasted above some useful info for you to check
regards
Dr Maurice

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com
It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

you're probably on dial-up internet (internet thru yr phone line)
which is very slow 56 kbs/s max - you must upgrade (pay more)
with yr internet service provider or find another internet service provider who offers broadband
(- dsl - 2 types slow and fast - abt 10 times speed or dial-up
- cable modem - faster than dsl
- T3 or T1 connection - T3 and T1 connection is very costly
way to get internet connection and used primarily by big
business - that is fiber-optics connection)
in any case you'll have to pay more to get faster internet connection

The answers to these questions could help us pinpoint a more exact solution:
Is your computer slow when performing other tasks?
Is this something that just started or has this been going on for a while?
What kind of routine maintenance do you perform?
What anti-virus program are you using?
What exactly is your connection speed?

purchasing another ISP line would make you purchase a NEW telephone number too.. just hook up the router to the DSL modem, and then hook up the PC to the router via ethernet cable. the PC shouldn't be affected. If the laptop is running wireless, and the router is wireless too - you shud be able to connect it.. let me know if you have questions! :)
