the ending of the last book(the chapter 19 years late)was a disappointment, the rest of the book was really gripping. as much as i hope for another book, I'm not sure there will be.

I think if she wanted to keep on writing, she could. Any story can be continued, because time and space did not stop at the end of book 7.
You could state the same about Star Wars, Lord of the Rings.... whatever.
The point is.... what would be the point? It would be a commercial argument to do it, not a literary one.
Mrs. Rawlings could keep on writing about Harry's Kids, or grandkids or some child Waldemort had with that Witch...
but it would be a forced, unnatural thing. Besides she is very rich and does not need the money. She might want to write something completely different to prove she can do it.
But maybe I am wrong...
Only time shall tell
good luck

it would have to be JK rowling, because it's her story and her ideas! Any further chapters/books written will be 'based on', not actually the HP story. It's her world that she created - whatever someone else writes may not fit with how she envisaged the open ending to carry on.

Anything HP related not written by her is merely fan-fiction.

i like the way the book was left at the end - it tied everything up nicely, but left it open enough for your imagination to decide what happens beyond albus getting on the train for his first year at hogwarts. but with no voldemort to battle against, there isn't much drive to the plot. an 8th book isn't necessary.

if however JK rowling wants to do like an encyclopaedia with random facts etc that'd be good. i'd be intrigued to know which house Dumbledore was in.

She has already said this was Not the last book. So its not a very difficult question. She said this four months before this latest book came on the market but the media hyped it as the last book to boost sales of course. The next one she has said she will donate to charity. She may even have already written it but it will be at least a year before it gets much publicity so that the current book casn keep the money rolling in. Makes good business sense of course.

I really don't think it IS open to another book. I DID like the way the author ended it with giving the readers the knowledge that years later; Harry is happily married to Ginny, Hermione has snagged Ron, and Neville is a professor.

I admit I'd love to know what happened to the Dursley's, Mr. & Mrs. Weasley, and others...

The ending JKR chose was classy. Rowling wanted to finish elegantly- not make more money by writing about Harry's kids or something.

Another book would be overkill- and besides, Voldemort is dead. What would she write about? What adventures would take place?

I think J.k will write the books about the next generation in a few years. I like sobbed through the whole book so I think it had to have been really hard on her to kill off all those characters but it made the book really good. I really hope she writes the next generation soon

well she is writing a new book its kind of like an enclyopedia were she tells about everyones life after hogwarts and in hogwarts for people that are still there (neville creevey brothers hinny im pretty sure she has a year left but i dont know since the school was like demolished andalso mcgonagal and winky) i wonder if harry stayed in serious old house or wat he ginny ron and hermione did 4 a livinh and id realy kie 2 know wat happened wen luna left school and if harry rose teddy (lupin and tonks son) but i wish she would write more books like real HP books but she closed it it would be un-origional if she kept writing adn she is anything but un-origional it feels like she left something out like i feel empty without more to look forward for but i know she is done with more novels

No way. She wrote that sentence to assure everyone that Voldemort dead for good. And JKR has said in interviews that she doesn't plan on writing any more HP books except for the encyclopedia.
