How did Vincent Van Gogh really die?

At school today we watched a video on him and it said that he had made a puncture wound near his heart and later went into a coma and died.
But I just looked him up on here and it says he shot himself directly in the heart and died two days later.
How did he really die?

His heart stopped, he quit breathing and all mental activity ceased. Oh, wait, that is how we all die.
