The hippie movement is the start of the moral destruction of the US, the free love movement and drugs. Look at 1963 with the likes of Madalyn Murray O'Hair challenging prayer in schools, the first step to removing God from our country, then the things that have followed since the hippies (truly the first liberals). 1973 and the Roe vs Wade case that made abortion legal. If it were not for the free love, there would not have been a need for legalized abortion. Now we have schools that can not teach right from wrong, we have schools that are teaching students to put condoms onto bananas and that an unborn child is just a bunch of tissue. How much longer before we start teaching that quadriplegics, cripples and Alzheimer's patients are not living meaningful lives and we start killing them, or perhaps kill you because you are 65 and we don't want to support you, so if you have no money you will be a victim euthanasia. Just ask Terry Schiavo about that.
With the help of the ACLU, this country is being destroyed and I would like to know how the hell a former president of the ACLU winds up being a Supreme Court Justice.

Hippies had nothing to do with the destruction of the government. Politicians are doing that from the inside by greed and pork barrel spending. Hippies were around for a few years in the 60's and pretty much isolated to San Francisco. So I guess you could blame some things there on them. Hippies.............................give me a break

Well, I don't know that just the hippie movement has been the downfall of America but, I do know that there were many anti-war, anti-American sentiments that went along with the entire movement. The Vietnam veterans were treated miserably after serving honorably. It was a disgrace. Hippie Queen Jane Fonda aka Hanoi Jane, went to visit the enemy and offered her sympathy and support for those who were killing our soldiers. She smiled and posed for pictures next to anti-aircraft and bombs which were used to kill Americans. She went around the Country trying to get college kids to support communism and socialist ideas. The POW's suffered all kinds of tortures because of Jane's visit and she refused to back down. There is some of that sentiment today, I am sorry to say. I am very sick of hearing the Hollywood crowd and the liberal press, liberal senators and the newspapers, like the NY Times, making up lies and putting our soldiers in a difficult situation. Funding for much needed supplies and armour is voted down. Actors and actresses voice their anti-American rants on foreign soil in a time of war and bash our President. They make statements that they would prefer to live somewhere other than America. I say, let them go. Let them find anything better anywhere else on this earth. America is sinking fast and the liberals may soon have a President who will make things so much worse than they are now. Who will they have to blame then?? I hope that people will truly pay attention to things that are happening and to the solutions that both sides are offering. Don't take an guess at who you will vote for; educate yourself by listening to the candidate yourself. There is a lot at stake!!

the freakin hippies screwed our country. if it wasnt for them we would have kicked some serious butt in vietman [which we were winning drastically, then the hippies showed up] and then they started the whole communist/femanist/racist movement. which is still active today. sure most of the hippies have gotten a change of clothes and a shower but their 'politics' have not changed. if it wasnt for them, our country would still be as great as it was back in the 50s. now our country is still good, but needs to let go of hippie politics, such as the 'ACLU' [american communist lawyers union], the american workers party, the green party, peta, most liberals, and many others.

Son, how old are you? I was both a hippie and a member of the service. It was just the time, many years ago. You make hippies sound like an organized political organization. Hell, we just got organized when we had run out of stash! You realize we are talking 40 years ago, don't you?
Maybe it was the Generation X folks, maybe the Yippies. And if you see a real hippie, call the home - one has wandered away again.

What is with all the bush administration "answers"? How lame.
The answer to the question is YES!
They nearly destroyed the U.S. with Jimmy Carter, although many people rose up in opposition to them and elected Reagan. This large majority of people are the ones both osama bin laden and ahmadinejad and todays present leftist liberals call "neocons". Although that is a fallacy because there is no such thing as "neocons" we are conservatives and there is no difference or divide in our party. The one example they use is Pat Buchanon which was also prior to 9/11.
Remember, todays batch of leftists are incredibly stupid.
Not only do they spout talking points identical to Bin Ladens
42% of democrats believe that 9/11 was an "inside job".
The hippie generation were the ones responsible for the clinton administration which was the downfall of America.

Yes but what most people do not know is that the CIA created the hippie counterculture through their LSD mind control experiments.
And Harry Truman created the CIA through the 1947 national security act over fake fears over UFO's which were also government sponsored hoaxes and scare tactics.
It's all a part of how they have everybody mind controlled and brainwashed.

You might have something here.
The hippies didnt simply criticize the war, but championed leftist idealogy to such an extent, that we are still caught in the grips of it today. Keep in mind, its not a tiny minority of people on the left who want NO military...a total dismantling of it. Now thats total dissociation from reality, which comes from the hippy movement.
