Wildflower growing in my Northern California garden, perennial, violet color, many 4-petaled tiny flowers create
a cluster on a 12" stem with intermittent leaves.

It's not a Lupine which is what Raydog suggested. I can send a photo, but don't know if that's possible on this site!

It's not Chelome aka Turtlehead which, like the Lupine, have flowers growing up the stem. This one has flowers at the very top of the stem, clustered with tiny tiny violet 4-petaled simple flowers with golden centers.

Sorry, but it's not Epilobium either...as the tiny flowers cluster at the very top of the stem. Thanks anyway for trying.

Not Phlox which are 5-petaled flowers on taller stems, I believe.
