I disagree.
The first love IS special. It is unforgetable. But it's not necessarily the only true love, or even the best love we can have.
As we mature, we learn there are many types and levels of love.
To my way of thinking, the "best" love is the one that endures the test of time. It's what is seen between long-term lovers or spouses.

I would say that is a depressing thought. I think people believe that because the first love hurts the most when it ends, as it was also your first taste of that great joy that you have when you find someone so special to you. Those are intense feelings, and when they leave, they can be hard to come by again.
But I cannot believe that the only one true love is first. I have loved deeply women after the first, and though the first was special in her own way, I cannot say that my love for the others was diminished because they came later in my life.
Love on, and as long as you feel those butterflies, you're on the right track.

you heard right. I have been trying to find my lst because there simply are no words to express the ultimate joy two first timers feel for each other.
I found her in people search and through a little sneakiness I found out where she lives. I don't think it's right to pop in on her and I would never just write, out of the blue.
It's nice to know though.

i think it is pretty significant but only cuz it is the first time we experience it. the feelings that come with that first love (the kind that makes you cry when u see them smile - UGH!!!) lol is just so overwhelming especially when we experience it for the first time, that's all, I think. It is usually not the only love we will experience, nor should it be. but, for me anyway, it will always hold a special place in your heart just because it was your introduction into that crazy thing called love.......

no way. your first love usually happens when you're pretty young. it happens before you've really had a chance to define yourself and what you really want from a serious relationship. it's immature (i don't mean that in a bad way). it shows you what you want from your true love. i'm not saying that your first love can't be your true love, but that isn't always the case.

I waited a long time to have that first love, and it does feel that way to me. I can't imagine loving another this way.

I think you can have as many as you want. Whatever makes you happiest. Don't believe everything you hear. Love is something you can't predict.
