Some people don't gain a lot of weight but the baby still grows. I have gained 31 pounds and I am also 36 weeks but my stomach does not look big at all. Even when I got my ultrasound at 33 weeks the ultrasound technician couldn't believe how small my belly was and that my baby was already 5 pounds 8 oz. I started off at 120 or just below and 5'6". I hear that overweight people don't gain as much weight but I am not sure if you are overweight or not.

No. I am 7 1/2 months pregnant. I lost 10 pounds because of extreme puking. Finally gained those 10 pounds back...and I just found out I am diabetic. So my new diet has caused me to lose a pound. So I have not gained any weight, and I am not obese...I am all baby. My baby is 5 pounds right now...which puts him at almost 9 pounds at delivery if we can hold out that long. Oh, and I only gained 18 pounds with my first, and she was 8 pounds 4.3 ounces. You have nothing to worry about, as long as you are eating good!

Your weight gain may not having any bearing on what size your baby will be.
Being pregnant may have caused you, even if you didn't try, to eat better. Which, helped you loose weight at the same time as gaining the baby weight.
My sister has had two babies. Both of them were over 8 pounds. She gained 12 pounds with one and 15 pounds with the other.
If you are really concerned, mention it to your doc.

Either that, or you're going to be very skinny after the baby arrives. Keep eating. Lots of healthy fresh foods, milk, ice cream. Baby needs iron. So eat packaged cereals or eggo nutrigrain waffles. They are a good source of iron and you can pack your child's liver full of iron before he or she is even born.
Best wishes!

P.S. Did you see the baby born today? It was in yahoo news. A 17 lb baby born to a 43 yo mom with 11 other kids. She said they didn't have much to eat, just noodles, potatoes and tomatoes. The baby was C-section (thank goodness or Mom would never sit again!). They named her Nadia.

It could be. It is also common for a mother to be to gain 2 lbs a week the last few weeks. I would not be too concerned, smaller baby usually means an easier delivery.
