you may have put leaded fuel in it.. some racing fuel has lead in it and can totally mess up an o2 sensor and fuel system in a modern car

Drain some and then put Sunoco Ultra in it. I had the same problem. It was caused by water in the gas station's tank. After I put the Sunoco in it it ran better and on the next fill up the problem was gone. If there isn't a Sunoco then use the highest octane fuel that's in your area. You could also add a can of DRY-GAS to your fuel first and then run it and see if that does the trick.

Note: Some catalytic converters are more susceptible to misfire damage than others.

Water in the gas can cause those kinds of problems. That happened to me once. Sometimes water can seep into underground gas storage tanks. I heard that there was something that you could add to your gas tank to absorb the water without doing any damage. Call a auto parts store. They can answer the question for you. (This is only a guess. It may not be that at all.)

It also depends on the make and year model of your car a lot of new cars are calibrated and set to run on regular unleaded gas not to exceed a max octane, some of these cars will not run properly on mid and super grades of fuel.

you got water in your gas from that gas station's gas, you can get a couple of cans or bottles of dry gas or a product called heat that will help dissipate the water in the gas.
