i have to wake up at 5am every morning to go to school. i eat breakfast around 6am. the thing is, as we drive to school i get horrible stomach pains and feel nausious and the pain wraps around to my back. about two hours later, it goes away. at night i can not sleep (i go to bed at 10 and it isnt until around 2 that i actually fall asleep) so i go on 3 hrs of sleep. around 8pm the stomach pains start up again continuing into my back.

i dont know what to do. my grades are dropping and i dont know what do do. my grandma (who has like 20 medical books and three cabenets full of vitamin bottles in her kitchen) told me to take potassium. she said it would help with the sleep because i am only sixteen and too young according to my doctor to take any sleep aids like lunesta or meletona so my grandma suggested potassium for sleeping and ginger for the stomach aches.

i just want this to stop. this is my jr year and my grades are falling. what should i do? will these things help??

The stomach aches might be caused by what you're eating or how much. In the morning, try eating something light and easy on the belly, like a high-fiber cereal w/ milk. Later, have a mid-morning snack, like fruit and something with protein like string cheese. See if this dividing your breakfast into two parts helps, and try it with dinner too. Have some dinner at the normal time, but a couple hours later, have a small snack containing protein and maybe some good fat, like nuts. Also make sure you drink enough water throughout the day.

Your insomnia and stomach problems could both be caused by stress. School keeps you very busy, and you probably have a lot on your mind at night before your next busy day. Around 7-8pm, start winding down for the night. Do anything that relaxes you and slows your brain & body down. When you do get in bed and can't fall asleep, try reading one of your textbooks while lying down. Keep doing these things to try to get your body & mind in the habit of actually falling asleep by 10pm, because you need more than 3 hours of sleep! It might take a week or two to get yourself into the new rhythm, but keep at it.
Good luck!

I took sleeping pill when I was like 12 (and my doctor say it was fine) and I still take them today, at 24. And you don't need a prescription, all natural. it's called Melatonin. I take one a night right when I'm going to bed and it works great.

Now for the stomach aches, when they start a small anti-acid pill would work great. Or for breakfast try eating a piece of toast and some milk or juice.

Sounds like you need a gastroenterologist for your stomach pains. This may be causing you sleep problems too.

I think you might have peptic ulcer, you have hunger pain, waking up at night, You shod see a physician to confirm the diagnosis & to put you on pills.
