If you go to MS - they say 1GB is enough. But they also say that is the minimum for Preimum ( see link)

I would go with the 2 if you can afford it. Best of luck.

Vista Premium, with some other software running on background - like antivirus, firewalls, and such, will use about 700MB of RAM

So 1 Gig will be enough if all you want it for is surfing Internet, or word processing.

If you want to do games, or other programs that require a lot of RAM, then get 2 Gigs.

Get 2. If you're a hardcore gamer or run intensive programs get 4. Vista does a lot and the best way to get it to purr is to feed it a lot of ram and do all the updates and install the latest drivers. I have 64bit Ultimate with 4GBs in my gaming rig and it runs great even with Lost Planet cranked up all the way in DirectX10.

1GB is NOT enough no matter what Microsoft is claiming.

I am a Vista Beta Tester and 1GB just didn't cut it with my testing. For some testing 2GB wasn't even enough.

I am sticking with XP until the initial bugs of Vista are worked out.
