Our Govt have spy drones everywhere and high definition cameras with night vision and infra red sensors and stuff which they dont have in the "dictatorship" of Burma.
So while they can go home at night and come back to protest next day, we will be picked up at home at night. This is why we dont protest ant this is the reality of Big Brother in the Western World

Wise up! "Dictatorship" is about control of the people. A Dictator is not effective if he has no control. The Govt is fooling people(not me) by saying "Dictator". Most people in third world countries DO NOT SEE A POLICEMAN IN MONTHS!!!

Third world countries do not have decent health set ups thats why they are third world. The Burma protest is not about "Democracy" but rising fuel prices. As we have here with Diesel going on a pound a litre. Thats why I compare both.

If you're in the US, then the PATRIOT act has just removed many of the rights that your fathers struggled for. Yes, they watch everything you do, everywhere you go, they pick you off at night. Welcome to the real world. It pains me that it is actually people who carry out these orders. It's the media that's allowed them to do this to you. PLEASE don't say 9/11. You will all learn the truth about that, very soon I suspect.

I guess the Burmese protest for rather essential aspects in life that don't have and you seem to enjoy already at birth such as a descent health care system, democracy, lack of corruption, descent living standards, education and...food.
Traffic or other cameras are indeed a western problem of mass control that some cannot tolerate so easily (me too). But you would agree with me that this is a problem at a quite different level than...Burma.
Its your life that will be seriously threatened there. Not your privacy. One needs to be able to distinguish between the two.
You really think that people do not protest because of the cameras? Interesting.

if the government told the British to jump off a cliff 'on mass' they would all line up and obey. its not really a question of how many cameras and spy's there are, its a question of the whimpy boot licking British fear!! of the stupid things......the reason the British don't protest is that they have no guts!!.....no bottle......they are terminally servile and embarrassingly pathetic. thats why the country is so easily over run. so easily pushed around. the British must be the only country in the entire world who surrendered their own national flag with out a fight. and will be herded into the EU apologising for how loud they bleat.

Don't be stupid, Burma like Zimbabwe is dropping into a situation where people are starving and have no health care. There are no opposition parties. Years ago in Burma the generals declared high value money to be worthless, making many people lose all their savings, and you're worried about being looked at by cameras. Don't worry the operators aren't there or asleep, whenever there's a crime the pics are so dodgy they can't identify the criminals. We waste millions taking grainy black and white photos of the backs of people in Hoodies.

Absolutley- the protest is about fuel.
Myanmar, NOT Burma does not need UK bourgeoisie moral masturbation nor UK blatant neo-colonialism.
Burma is an offensive colonial name.
Only a small percentage of Myanmar population is adversely effected by SLORC- these are ethnic minority parastites imported by British former Colonials- Chinese, Indian and Khmer.
Yur UK is living in the shadow of a real Gestapo with Brown as your Big Brother.
Did your nation not read Orwell?

And Elvis lives, JFK was shot by the man on the grassy knoll, and aliens crashed at Roswell...
You honestly think the Burmese government doesn't know where the protestors live? Oh, but then they don't need to, because generally when you shoot someone you don't need to know where they live, because they're dead.
Oh, this country is SO much worse than a military dictatorship in what used to be called Burma, isn't it?
