Christ tells US to give to the poor, not steal money from your neighbor and give that to the poor.
It is the rich's responsibility to give, NOT voter's responsibility to take from the rich and give to the poor. That was the myth of Robin Hood, NOT the son of God!
Christian conservatives give generously of their time and money to help people, while Liberals only want to steal someone else's money to help people.

WOW an honest question from a liberal. I cant believe it.
99% of christian conservatives believe the FEDERAL government should not but into social issues. They shouldbe decided by the individual states.
Also they beleive that giving should be based on the individual. It is well Known that conservatives donate more to private social causes than liberals. Because they believe inpersonal responceability. The governemnt is to big and inefficeint to deal with personal social issues.
For example Millions of dollars are stolen from tax payers by people who know how to work the systems. The Governemnt is NOT efficent and creating more governemnt to correct government is INSANITY.
The government of the US is designed to be policed by the citicens. The more government grows the harder it is police them. It hides behind bureacry..
One of the major issues facing this country is the confusion about where we came from and where we are headed. As long as politicians can say they are "at least better than the other party" the country will suffer. If issues are settled at the local level rather than the national level we can hold out representatives accountable. But people are toooooooooo stupid to wake up. They think because "john smith" is a politician he must know what is better for me than I do.

I believe Jesus did say "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's," but as I'm an agnostic Jewish woman, I wouldn't know for sure.
I suspect that Christians would rather give to the poor through their programs so they can give their help with a side of Jesus. Government-run social programs aren't supposed to do that.
And while there are no atheist/nontheist organizations, nonbelievers do give to charity and do believe in helping others. We just don't believe that we should cram god down the throat of someone who needs help getting back on his/her feet.

I am not opposed to social programs. I am opposed to the way the social programs are run.
I think that those in need should be able to retain their dignity and receive a hand up not be tied to hand outs.
Our social programs should be directly tied to either education or job training. I realize that there are those that have circumstances that preclude them from both and I think that special services should be applied.
What I get aggravated with is when the programs handicap the recipients or when the incentives are toward failure instead of achievement.
Never ending tax increases aren't the answer.

I can find verses where Christians are told to take care of the poor. I can't find any where Christians are told to support government bureaucratic establishments that can raise taxes and inefficiently distribute the revenue to the poor in schemes that might actually harm society as a whole in the long run or unwittingly increase poverty rates.

All your post does is prove that
a.) Liberals do not understand the bible
b.) liberals want to mix church and state by legislating their faith and belief even when they do not even understand the bible
You can't give what is not yours. That's called stealing. It is noble to give what is rightfully yours to give. But you cannot force someone else to give. That's not how charity or charities work.
You are advocating the politics of Robin Hood and trying to call it Christian. You are also mixing Church and State. Something liberals constantly accuse Republicans of doing.

Because the majority of them all ready to give to the poor. And they get to choose who they give their money to.
Christians in America are historically known for giving the most money to the needy. Why put government regulations into something they are already doing?

I am not opposed to programs that help the disabled, mentally and physically, and the elderly. I feel anyone who is an able bodied person, is capable of going to work, getting an education and taking care of themselves.
I also give to chairitable organizations.
I also believe that most of the money I work hard to earn belongs to me and my family. I do not approve of big government controlling my life. I dislike socialism.
Now, may I ask why you dislike conservatives?

Let's break it down to more simple terms. Why are some Americans so against our government doing anything for the poorer among us? I don't care if you call it socialism, we're all Americans and we should be looking out for one another. I would much rather my tax dollars go to America and Americans then be spent in Iraq on Iraqis and so called spreading democracy. If it's OK to spend three hundred million a day in Iraq, I think it should be OK to spend three hundred million a day on Americans who need help. Christian conservative republicans ***** about spending money on Americans but see no problem with all the money we are spending in Iraq. Something is wrong with that picture.
