Go to a different doctor, a female gynecologist if you can find one, as soon as you can. I am saying "soon" because waiting a few weeks probably won't hurt, but you shouldn't have to worry about it for a long time. Ask your female friends about their doctors.
No doctor ignores a breast lump. The only justifications I can think of are if you doctor is certain that the lump is normal tissue or scar tissue from a previous infection, or if s/he ordered a mammogram after you got the lump and it was normal or showed a cyst.

Please go see another Doctor, or a specialist. Request a mammogram. If you have any history of breast cancer in your family, then you know you are at high risk. Women as young as 18 have been diagnosed with breast cancer. It's not just a over 50 thing anymore. Do you have a different doctor you could consult? If the doctor you saw was your ob-gyn, do you have a family doctor? Either way early detection is key. It could be nothing, but it is not smart to let it go as nothing. Other than that, if the doctor was really just not good, contact the boards. Make a complaint, no one should be treated that way! Good luck!

First of all, relax. It is probably nothing more than fibrous breasts. This is very, very common.
Secondly, your doctor needs to get in there and determine what the lump is. He needs to test it, maybe an MRI and a needle biopsy it to see what's in there. If your doctor hasn't suggested this, then ask him to do it. If he won't, fire him. You can do that. He is supposed to be working for you, not the other way around. Remember that.

Get a second opinion. My mother was 32 when she developed breast cancer, but the doctors didn't find it until almost too late. If you aren't happy with the second opinion, get a third, etc.

Go for a second opinion, if you have to go to the next town over then do it. You deserve better treatment especially with your history of infection.

ALWAYS LOOK FOR A SECOND OPINION IF YOU ARE SCARRED. DO NOT JUST LET IT GO, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE HAD INFECTIONS BEFORE. TELL THEM YOU WANT TO GO TO ANOTHER DOCTOR AND ASK FOR A REFERRAL.
I KNOW MEDICAL INSURANCE IN AND OUT SO EMAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.
BEST OF LUCK

Please find another doctor to evaluate this lump further. If you have a good gynecologist I would recommend starting there.
