Wikipedia is not widely accepted as a scholarly source, so I would not suggest using that for a research paper.
www.genderwatch.com is a database that provides scholarly academic journals (or articles) that are focused on women.

There was a book I read about a courageous young woman--Deborah Sutcliffe (I'm not sure about the last name). She cut her hair, bound her breasts and joined the army, and she was a hero.
