I mean I'm watching a 19 y/o male play Pokemon. He does not know any world news or current events... surprising? What does that say about someone's maturity level? We have many kids these days that grew up playing video games since 5 or 6. Now, if they had a well-balanced life, no big deal... but the parents allow video game play for extended hours(8 hours a day for some kids). What kind of generation are we going to have? It looks to be a very ignorant one folks. Do anybody else see this?

You think 8 hours of TV is worse? What if it's PBS, Discovery, CSPAN, CNN, Court TV or any other non-fiction channel? My kid would learn more about current society and be better informed than the majority of American adults.

The problems isn't the technology, it's the parents who cannot regulate the addictive behavior the technology has on their children.

My kids have strict limits on how much computer/game time they have.

It's just going to widen the gulf between the haves and have nots, because the well-trained children will have a relativly greater advantage in the adult world.

It is just you. To me stupid people get all concerned with politics. Everyone watches the news but they do not take action. They just watch themselves get screwed over by the rich and powerful on TV and pretend that they got a say. At least a gamer is living their own life and not vicariously through the politics of others.

It's not as bad as them watching TV 8 hours a day (you might think that 8 hours of the good stuff on TV would be pretty good and it probably would be but that's not what most of them would watch).

I prefer to play video games over TV; I don't play for 8hrs though. I'm sick of all the mtv politics and news crap. It's always about the same stuff. It's something I always enjoyed doing. If it bothers you then ignore it if you can't; deal with it. Stop wasting your pearls.
