It's out-lived it's (questionable) usefulness by about 20 years.

For the person who said affirmative action is racist: It was made up because of racist people. For every action there is a reaction. There were at one point lots of people who weren't getting jobs simply because a person wasn't white. So Racist people are the reason for a affirmative action. Get mad at them not the minorities.
I also live in Ca and yes Hispanic is defiantly the MAJORITY here. The fact is the only reason they may get a job over a white person is because they may except a lot less in wages. Studies show that of all the immigrants the Hispanic ones are the only ones not coming over here and getting educated.
Greedy business owners are the problem the the Hispanic people.
In a perfect world no one should be better than the next we should be judged on skill, education, and experience and not race.

Affirmative Action promotes the very behavior that it sought to prevent. And in some circumstances, companies are forced to hire people that may not be as qualified or experienced as others that they can't hire because of the laws. This isn't always the case, but many times it is. And there are several ways to get around it. For example, I worked with a guy that knew somebody from South Africa (white), who always put on applications that he was African American. Technically, he was. I think when it reaches the point of trying to find loopholes in the law, it's pointless.

AA is a major player in the destruction of this country. When ever I here some lib rant and rave about how great AA is, I always ask them this:
Do you think the Chicago Bulls of the 90's would have won 6 titles without Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman? Just think if AA was enforced in the NBA....instead of those 3, they could have put me, my brother, and some other white guy instead. That's basically what AA programs do......staff businesses with color instead of talent.

Me being hispanic feel that affirmitive action is pointless now
in this generation... It was ok back in 50's, 60's, and 70,s
But not now... I think it is discriminating more against whites
now, this affirmitive action. It had its purpose back then. but
not now. Im not saying racism doesnt exist but it isn t nearly
as bad as it was back then.

I'm white, and I think that we should always have it.......because the republicans do what they can to hurt the poor and the Blacks.
WASHINGTON - President Bush insisted to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Friday that he's going ahead with his promised veto of a major expansion of a children's health program despite its overwhelming approval by Congress.
Pelosi, D-Calif., said she told Bush in a morning phone call that she was praying he would change his mind. "I think I have to pray a little harder," she told reporters moments later, at a Capitol ceremony where Democrats celebrated passage of the proposed $35 billion increase in the State Children's Health Insurance Program.

I think affirmative action is racist, no matter who's benefiting. People should get opportunities based on merit and only merit -- who's more qualified for the job? Who's smarter and therefore more deserving of that place in college or scholarship? Skin color shouldn't matter.
