Pretty much anything from 70's Classic Rock. Definitely any Led Zeppelin, any Pink Floyd, any Black Sabbath, etc.

But I like a lot of the later 70's and alternative 80's rock too.

What I really like about listening to music from that timeframe is it all seems so different and diverse. I mean, you go from the extreme of Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" or the glitz of KISS to the calm eroticism of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" to the godfather of horror metal Alice Cooper to the poppy excitement of Boston or REO Speedwagon.

Then you listen to music today and wonder... WTF? It all sounds the same, it all sounds lame. It's either a bunch of lame tattoed extreme sport boys playing on expensive instruments their corporate daddy bought them (and then singing about how difficult their lives were/are growing up in upper class suburbia), or it's a whole bunch of urban/street crap that should have died 10 years ago already.

There are really good artists that could revive the music renaissance of the 70/80's... but they're largely unsigned indie bands who can't get the kind of national exposure they deserve.

Such a shame.

My dad's generation (from the 70's/80's) definitely had a much better music scene available to them that we have today. We've had a few good attempts at reviving real rock and roll, but it just doesn't compare, and in the end, they appear to be nothing more than corporate shills.
