Which do you think? Gregory is his father's first name (my husband) , but his dad also is an AVID car fan and loves the idea of naming him after this car. Which do you guys like better?

Not to get all defensive, but Aston is a "real" name. That is a bit redundant to say that Aston isn't a "real" name and then suggest an alternative like Austin which is the same thing that Aston is... a place. The Aston in Aston Martin comes from the name of a village in England. So yeah... its just as much a "real" name as Austin.

His initials will be JAM. Will that be OK?

James Gregory Mobile sounds better to me, but he might have fun explaining that he's named for an Aston Martin. Hmmm... James Aston Martin Mobile has a ring to it, or is that a rrrrrrrev? Mobile: The pronunciation might have an effect, too. There are three possible pronunciations that I know of.

Try saying the names aloud.

The triple syllable in the middle name does give it flow.

I really like both of them.

It also just dawned on me that not only is "Aston" a car (yup, I know the one you mean!) and Mobile is, well, it is what a car is "mobile"!

Very cool now that I think about it. Go with the James Aston Mobile.

Gregory! It has the major bonus of being a real name...

Could you maybe change Aston to something similar to pay tribute to the car but still use an actual name? Ashton, Austin, something like that.

I liked Aston better until you mentioned it was just to throw a car name in there. Your son will be more important to you than any car, keep the hobbies out of his name.
