The Sun is a mixture of gases - approximately 75% hydrogen and 25% helium. These proportions are changing over time as reactions in the Sun's core convert hydrogen into helium. It’s the energy released by these reactions which produces the Sun's heat. At the Sun's core, where the temperature is 15 million kelvin, the gases are compressed by gravity to a density many times that of lead. While this gravity tries to shrink the core, the Sun is kept in equilibrium by the counterbalancing force of the energy released as the hydrogen burns.

Plasma is a phase of matter, its properties are different from that os solid, gas, and liquid.... hope this helps.

Plasma is a gas...it's just that plasma molecules are soooo excited to see you that they appear to be full of energy

Plasma is "highly ionized gas."

The temperature in most of the sun too high for the atoms not to be ionized, therefore most of the sun is plasma.

The Sun is a big ball of gas and plasma. Most of the gas is hydrogen or helium, but there are also small amounts of other elements such as oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, magnesium and iron.

It's called plasma because all the electrons are stripped from their nuclei causing matter to 'fall' in on itself. It's like having a Hugh building filled with inflated balloons and letting all the air out of them. Now you can fit them all in a box in the middle of the building and not lose an ounce of their weight, yet now the building looks empty.

Both.
The Sun converts gas (primarily hydrgen) to plasma by nuclear fusion, generating both light and heat.
