I'm just curious to know what books or stories folks here feel they must read for the various holidays each year. What you feel you're holiday won't be complete if you don't read at least one of the elements on your personal reading list for that holiday.

For me I really only have two holidays I have some kind of reading list for, Halloween and Christmas. For Halloween my list to choose from is:

Various ghost stories
various Poe stories
Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"

For Christmas my list to choose from is:

L. Frank Baum's "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus"
Charles Dickens' "A Chrismas Carol"

The only holiday for which I have a "must read" list is Christmas. I read at least one of the books compiled by Joe Wheeler called the "Christmas in My Heart" series.

I also always read A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, and usually include his stories The Haunted Man; The Chimes; The Battle of Life; A Christmas Tree; What Christmas is as We Grow Older and The Cricket on the Hearth.

I usually read The Christmas Wish by Richard Siddoway; The Christmas Box by Richard Paul Evans; The Christmas Shoes by Donna VanLiere and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore.

I also try to read at least one more anthology of Christmas stories every year.

Last but not least, I always read Luke 1 & 2 and Matthew 1 & 2.

I always read "Christmas Box" by Richard Paul Evens,
"The Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens , and
"About a Week Before Christmas" (a funny tale like 'Twas the night...' )for Christmas.

For Halloween, I read "Halloweener" it is a very cute book for kids.
I have a lot of reading traditions, to tell you, it would take me all day.
