Most States if not all have a law that requires Motor Oil sellers to accept your used oil in return. After you change the oil, pour the old stuff back into the containers and take it back. You will need the receipt for purchase. If you have an accumulation of old oil, there are companies that will take it. Try the 800 number on this site. They might have a pickup site near your area.

Depends on where you live, but recycling is always the best. Here in New York, any store that sells oil is required by law to accept the used oil back. Check your state/country. Service stations that change oil will often accept oil at no charge. Some service stations around here collect used motor oil all year and burn it for heat in the winter...

Take them to a recycling center. Almost all major oil change shops will take them for you for example, Jiffy Lube, Speedy Oil Change etc. Or AutoParts specialty stores.

Always recycle it. Any garage/parts chain (Pep Boys, Auto Zone, etc.) will accept it. Just pour it back into the empty bottles, and give it to them.

Good luck!
