Especially how it will affect your existing outstanding loan balances (i.e. for your car or home)? Or on how this will affect your future hourly wage or salary?
I got to thinking about this recently, when I heard that the US dollar and the Canadian dollar are roughly the same exchange rate. I remember only 10 years ago the CDN dollar was about 68 cents to the US dollar!
According to this info, the Amero may be arriving sooner rather than later... (possibly around 2010 or 2011)

Bill, there is no need to be rude in your answer. I lived in Canada 10 years ago so I know what the exchange rate was then. Last thing I knew, 10 years made up one decade. So your claim of the CDN dollar being on par with the US dollar for "decades" is a bogus claim. Perhaps you should go do some research.

jautomatic- no I do not run "fantasy sites like this one". I'm a concerned citizen wondering what's going to happen with my mortgage payments, should this new currency take effect. I was just curious as to if others were also worried.

Not really. As to the value of the dollar. It reminds me of the difference between the average male and female salaries in our barbaric country. So men will know what it's like to be paid like women. But unfortunately women suffer the most. Cuz when our economy goes down, we lose everything. When the rich are in a recession the poor are in a depression, so just keep that in mind. My financial life has been declining for 20 years. I think it died a couple years ago, but I'm not sure. People adapt and move on. There won't be chip implants because they cause skin cancer so people need to stop worrying about crap like that.

Nope.
It's just that I've heard this alarmist BS before. 20 years ago, there was a similar rumor floating around about a currency union with Japan. It wouldn't actually have been a horrible thing (merging fiat currencies is pretty nearly meaningless, anyway), but it never happened.
The only sticking point would be who controlls monetary policy. Would there still be three separate central bank authorities trying to control the newly-merged currency, or would there be only one, and how would it be constituted. I'd expect (given the relative sizes of the econonomies and relative geopolitical power and influence of the three proposed participants) any such central authority to be America-dominated, anyway.

Dude hell yeah I SOOOO know how you feel! This is some bulls_hit, and its all cuz of our country, spending money that we don't have. We have a global debt of over a trillion dollars! NO JOKE! The dollar will collapse anytime now, and that's when Canada, USA, and Mexico will join together into the North American Union. This is when the Amero will be put into place, and we'll all be required to have RFID chips implanted. Awesomeness!!

Didn't Warren Buffet put his money in Gold and the Euro about 25 cents ago? What does that tell ya? I think the exchange rate is lower for corporations. If we tried it I think we would get hit with really high fees.

The Euro has been a recipe for inflation since it was introduced in the EU - but more than that it's a loss of national sovereignty and a stepping stone to OWG- beware the Tri-Lateral Commission
