Hold up, you NEVER dress in costume for an audition! Do you want everyone there to throw you dirty looks? You may dress 'towards' the part, but if you show up in costumes you may as well sing Tomorrow from Annie at every audition you ever go on because you won't get the part. I can't believe someone recommended that you do that.

Also, I'm sorry but you don't really 'be yourself'. I don't know what role you're auditioning for, but I assume it's Shakesperean. Take on the at least some of the manner of the character that you're hoping to get and show them you can do it. Then really go into it when you do your piece. Hopefully the character you want is similar to Helena so you can do the monologue justice.

Seeing as Helena is not really calm in AMND until the very end, I wouldn't worry too much about nerves. She's screwy, unlucky in love, maybe a bit of your typical 16 year old today in regards to relationships :-) Angst is a word that comes to mind. See where I'm going with this? If you seem a bit 'touched', it may be just what the character needs :-)

break a leg!

You have so many auditions, right? And it is all right with me if you do Helena. Listen to Marianne. Acting is not being yourself, it is being the character. If you do that believeably you will be a success. The way to do that believably is to do what actors are supposed to do, react as the character to the stimuli of the scene. Oh, and follow the punctuation for meaning, it is why Will put it in there. Want to share with us what the audition is, cause Marianne and I and others in this forum want to keep people like you from being scammed.

First, just have fun. Second, if you can dress the part it's always a plus. Dressing in costume really helps a person when they audition.
