... and today, the episode is about transgendered individuals.
One mother said about her son (formerly daughter):
"It was hard to say goodbye to the daughter I once had."
What are your thoughts about this?

It's interesting. I posted this question in the LGBT section as well. The way you guys respond is unbelievable.
I wanted a straight viewpoint on this issue. Not advice about my own manhood.
This is the first time that I've ever sat down to watch Oprah, and the only reason is because my other friends are not online.
I think I'll post the other Oprah question in here, too, just to see the reaction to that one as well.

I have seen shows where parents say the same thing...I know I'm gonna get a lot of flack for my answer, but I feel really sorry for people who think they don't belong in the body they were born with...something must have gone horribly wrong...I don't know what the answer is...I just firmly believe that the body I am born with is the body God wanted me to have. I don't think I would pass judgment on a young person who is confused about their sexual identity or gender as it appears to be very frustrating...
...What makes me very sad is to see grown adults (the ones I am thinking of at this moment are men) who are married and have had children and then decide to leave (or stay if the spouse is willing) and get their sex change to live 'their' life. Well, when you have kids, your life is not your own anymore and I really think that someone who would hurt their family in that way is very selfish and cruel...they are only thinking of themselves and expect everyone else to come around...if they really were so confused about their gender/identity, they shouldn't have had kids until they knew who/what they wanted to be...
I don't mean for this to sound hateful or harsh, but I think it is a very confusing subject for most people, especially the ones dealing with that situation.
Anyway, that's my two cents...like it or not.
Very thought-provoking question.

As a mother, I can totally understand that mothers' feeling of loss. I have 3 sons and 1 daughter. I was surrounded by boys growing up, and never had a sister. When I had my daughter, I was elated. We have a special closeness that is different than the bond I have with my sons. I love all my children, but I identify more with my daughter. If she came to me and said she wanted to become a man, it would be very difficult for me. I would not want it to change things between us, but undoubtedly it would. For however liberal I like to think I am, in all honestly, it would be a very difficult transition for me. I would love her/him no matter what. But the bond would be different. I would mourn the loss of a daughter, then try to move ahead to love her as a son.

Im in Australia so we probably wont get the episode her for a on an identical time as yet I in basic terms wished to declare good on Oprah! There rather isnt adequate preparation/innovations available approximately domestic dog turbines and that i think of this might rather open peoples eyes as much as the cruelty that the canines bypass via whilst theyre in domestic dog turbines. and could with a bit of luck placed an end to alot of the turbines. thank you for posting this! (& RIP to Sophie... Oprahs pup =[ )

The woman had a daughter; now she has a son. She was expressing her feelings about loss. She didn't say she hated her son, according to you all she said was it was hard to say goodbye to her daughter. By now, you know I have no prejudices against people of any gender or sexual preference. Still, I understand her feelings.

Those who call you a "fruit" are displaying the fruits (results) of homophobia. As Christ told us, bad fruit cannot come from a good tree.

My thoughts on this:
Why the hell are you watching Oprah? You need to have your balls reattached, now put on a freaking jersey and watch some freaking football or something, ya fruit.
