Better to service it on a regular schedule to catch any problems before thet get too bad....budget 100.00 per month for repairs and bank what you don't use from month to month for a savings account in case of bigger repairs.

you should change the oil about every six months,air filter possibly once a year but it does all depend on how much you use the car,if you do lots of miles then perhaps every 4months for the oil,but the car should have service lights fitted,to give you an idea this works on how many miles you do and how often you start,you can buy a tool to reset the service lights so you don't have to take it to a dealer,the tool is about $30 so not to bad!

you should oil change every 3500 -4000 miles,, if you do not have a owners manual, get one because it has all the intervals in the back
