too much. let the government ensure our national security, close the borders. collect taxes, maintain roads and other than that they shouldn't be involved. private companies and charities are much better at running things than the gubmint.

Too much government of course. People are starting to get lazy and depend on the government for everything. They have no personal responsibility. They expect the government to monitor everything and give them a free ride in life. 25 years ago people would have been ashamed to admit to welfare. I know a ton of people (not friends of mine) that do everything they can to get and stay on welfare, and then brag about it. I know people who refuse to work over 20 hours a week at their job because then they will lose their welfare check and have to pay more rent. It's disgraceful.
This is just one example and there are many more. But I believe it all comes down to the same thing. We have government so involved in everything that people are not willing to take personal responsibilty anymore.

too much. Bring back the real conservatives.
Every time Congress passes a bill it requires more money. Over time, doesn't that require an ever increasing government? How many laws are repealed each year? When does this end?

Too much legislation, rather than too many government employees.
Congressmen get into office with promises to get tougher on crime. To them, "getting tough on crime" is not adding more police officers, but just piling on the penalties and penal code.
It's getting pretty bad. Seems now days when someone commits one crime, it turns into four or five charges.
Now criminals do need to be deterred and punished, but if we let these clowns in Congress continue to pile on the law, it's going to get out of hand and probably going to start criminalizing ordinarily lawful behaviors.
I'm saying it will bite us on the ... (RAN OUT OF ROOM. YAHOO.)

that depends on the problem,
if your talking about education & poverty, then id say too much government, private schools have a far higher sucess rate, and private jobs pay better than government programs do,
if your talking about crime or illeagle immigration then its not enough government,
