Physical activity has nothing to do with whether or not you get your period. Your period is dictated by hormones, and your cycle can take up to five years to regulate...and some women never DO get a regular period. So that supposition is completely inaccurate.

There is a huge difference from just being on the track or soccer team at school, and being a professional/olympic athlete or gymnast. If you are on the school's team and follow that work out regime, then your periods would not be affected by that level of activity. However, if you are a serious, professional athlete that works out heavily for their primary job and does that 6 or 7 days a week for 8 hours at a time, your period may very well be lessened if not completely deleted from the picture.

Also, if you are young-under the age of, oh lets say 22, your body has not quite "regulated" its cycle yet. It can take around 5 years for your period to stick to an actual cycle....and even then, some women just have goofy messed up cycles where they only do get it a few times a year, or they may get it every 3 weeks instead of once a month. Your period is dictated by your hormones and your body primarily, but an extreme (and I mean EXTREME) amount of exercise can cause you to miss a period due to the amount of stress your body is already under, it doesn't have the energy it takes to have a period. Same with girls that are anorexic or bulemic....they may miss periods because their body does not have enough food/energy to produce the period.

I wish my period doesn't come each month since I am physically active but I don't think it's quite a good thing.

What you are referring to is an effect caused by to little body fat. When a woman's body fat drops below 10% she won't produce the necessary hormones to be regular and the chances for pregnancy become less. Essentially the body isn't healthy enough for reproduction. It is also the reason many girls are so irregular in the early years of menstration, they haven't gained the body fat required to support pregnancy yet. This is seen in pro atheletes and those suffering from anorexia.

Only if you're in sports and you workout all the time. Apparently your friends are in sports and are pretty serious about the commitment.
You can also get a new birth control pill that gives you only 4 periods a year. I don't know the name but I bet your doctor does.

This only happens if you are OVER active. It happens to me every time I have a big dance competition because I dance for about 5-8 hours everyday and barley sleep..which by the way isn't healthy. It happens because your body knows it isn't healthy enough to have a baby and therefore makes it so you can't.

This only applies to women who are very athletic, not just physically active. I know from personal experience that if one is just physically active, you don't have any cramps when you get your period.

It is more than just physically active, it's related to body fat percentage. If your body fat percentage is extremely low (usually only attainable by being very physically active) then the body can respond by stopping your periods.

No..not true.
being physically active is good for you. And having regular periods is healthy.
The problems start when you are obsessively exercising and losing too much weight..that's when your periods stop and it is NOT a good thing.!!!
