The narrow nipples are the standard nipple. That would be best for a non breast feeding infant.
The wide nipple, like the avent work well if you are bottle and breast feeding. Baby's do tend to like one type of nipple vs others, so like someone said, dont get hooked on one type of bottle. Sometimes you have to try a few different types.
I know my son didn't like the ventaire nipple.. he liked the avent because it was more flexable, and softer.

I have tried just about every bottle out there including the ventaire bottles the ones that my boys liked the best are the avent bottles, I liked the dr browns but washing is a pain and when I had two babies crying because they were hungry it just seemed to long to have to assemble all the parts.

Any bottle will work. I use evenflo, with the crooked neck. They also have rubbery grips to hold on to it. I think a 3 pack cost me 15 dollars. I would go with a narrow type. Personal opinion. I can't stand those drop in's. If you want liners, they are pretty good, but end up being very pricy. I would get a narrow bottle with a tilted neck and no liners. I would also recommend NOT getting the 4 oz. bottles. Just get the 8oz. bottles and bigger. Their eating habits grow quickly. I only used the 4 oz. bottles with each of my kids for maybe 2 months max. I think it is just a waste of money. Good Luck!

I tried bottle after bottle for my son.
First I used Avent w/ drop in liners, i did not like them, the nipple was to large and he made a mess!
We tried another brand I can't remember what right now, orthopedic or something, did not like, always had to make sure the air hole was facing upright
Then I tried Dr. Browns for his reflux, they worked okay but there were too many parts to have to wash all the time!
Then I tried the regular old plastic gerber bottles and LOVED them. They are easy to clean, the nipple fits in my sons mouth, no holes to face in the right direction and they work great!
But didn't try the playtex, can't help you there. Good Luck!

With my first son, we used Avent in the beginning, but when it was time to 'upgrade' to the larger bottle, we decided to try the VentAir. They worked just as well, and were less expensive than Avent. We decided to stick with the VentAir for my second son, and he is doing really well with them.

best way to pick a bottle is find out what kind of nipple your baby can drink from. Then go from there and pick a bottle my son can only drink from a laytex nipple so I got stuck using the playtex bottle with the drop in liners. Which is a good bottle but I tried other bottles and that is the one my son agreed on so thats what I use.

While I was pregnant with both my kids I recieved all kinds of bottles as gifts. I also bought some different kinds to try. I ended up using the plain, cheaper Gerber bottles. They seemed to work just as good as the more expensive ones. Also, I used the ones that bend at the front and they cracked after a couple months. The Gerber ones lasted the longest, and my baby didn't seem to care about what kind bottle he was fed with.

That question was a hard one for me too, since there are many different kinds of bottles. They are all serviceable. I knew that and that the right choice would be the choice that worked for me, but as a first-timer I didn't know what that was.
I ended up going with a type that bent near the top and had a place for my fingers to grip. It turned out to be very comfortable and both my kids used it.
Just take a wild guess and run with it! You'll be fine.

The narrow are standard bottle nipple size. The wide are shaped more like real nipples. the wide are best if you also plan to breast feed. It makes the transition easier. The wide ventaire is what I have chosen to use.

Been there and done that. I like to Even-flow bottles, don't know why just do. Everyone likes different brands and they will tell which they think is best for your baby to use. When I first got pregnant and was choosing bottles, I bought several different brands, (I know that can be pricey,) but through trail and error, I found one that I like and so did my son, and I used the same bottle brand for my daughter and will again for my third.
