It's called "Medicaid."

Yes, contact your county's department of social services. They will help you.

The best thing to do is contact your local health department. You could be eligible for Medicaid to take care of the cost that your primary insurance (mom's) does not cover. It depends on the requirements in your state and only your Medicaid officer can explain them to you after you fill out paperwork.

Even if you aren't eligible, don't stress out because of the bill. You can pay $10.00 a month to pay the bill, just as long as you do it on a consistent basis and the hospital doesn't send it to a collection agency. Too, don't let them tell you how much you "need" to pay, it is your choice how much you pay and they cannot demand more.

I was age 21, my premature son died after he was in the hospital 76 days. I was on Medicaid, it covered 12 days, then I filed for an additional 12 days, which I was approved for. For 52 days of hospitalization (not including the doctor's charges) I owed the hospital over $165,000. The doctor was close to $30,000. I paid what I could, even when they demanded more, but I still paid my monthly payment.

in most states, medicaid is available to all pregnant women both during pregnancy and up to 2 months postpartum. it can pick up where mom's insurance left off. also, if you aren't working and are single with a baby, you can keep the medicaid until the child is 18. go to your local social security or social services department to apply. it can at least help pay for the bulk of the hospital bill that your mom's insurance doesn't cover.

that you have any insurance at all is a lucky thing, else you would be owing a good deal more. Having a baby means you are going to be in debt probably for the rest of your life. Get used to it. If you are afraid of being in debt, you should not have had a baby. The hospital will work with you on a payment plan, just stick to it so you don't destroy your credit. And your boyfriend, if he is the father, needs to put in at least half, if it's his child, he is just as responsible as you are for the cost of delivery. And for every other debt that having that baby is going to deliver to your door. Did you think having a child wouldn't cost? Time to grow up and start thinking, you are going to be a parent.

If your boyfriend works he'll need to get a second job to help to finance the hospital expenses for his baby. It's the only right thing to do. When your doctor says it's alright to work after delivery, you also can go to work to help out with the bills. Alot of people have done the same thing. Work out a payment plan with the hospital and stick to it so your credit will remain intact. Good luck!

Yes you should be able to get medicaid. Go to your local health department or DEFACS they will sit down with you and help you fill out any paper work. You should also get WIC while you are pregnant and after the baby is born. Good luck and congratulations!
