You can have slavery and be a peacful nation like China. There is no war there but there is slave labor where people work fr food only.

If so many people want to fight for freedom why most wouldn't fight for freedom in the middle east where half of the society, women, are second class citizens, or slaves.

My first impulse is join all the other answerers and fight for freedom. Then it struck me that the early Christians thought otherwise. In fact, the entire book of Philemon is a letter to a slave owner asking him to accept his runaway slave Onesimus back as a brother in Christ.
Slavery was a fact of life throughout much of history. No one thought seriously about ending slavery until about half a century ago. It is no surprise that Christians led the way to abolition, first in Britain, and then in the US.
On consideration, I would have to consider whether the fight would be won. Jesus correctly recognized that a rebellion against the dictatorial empire of Rome would be suicidal. On the other hand, an overwhelming force sweeping out the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein set millions of people free and altered the equation for freedom in the Middle East for a generation--depending on our willingness to defend democracy there.

Bruce

I really like this Q. We complain about war but it is necessary. If there is peace, it is because some are conforming and are therefore slaves whether they know it or not. Back to war, it is conflict generally between a corrupt higher power and a passionate people who want things to improve. So, essentially they are fighting for more freedom from the pressure to conform.

Fighting for freedom has to get my vote.
It gives everyone that extra boost to be fighting along with you, and it spreads hope that things will get better and people will start assisting you more, eventually you'd probably overpower the government (theres a lot more Public than there is Government!)
Slavery is just wrong. Why do those sorts of people think they are any better than the rest of us? My country (England) hasnt got a real slavery problem, but when Africa started being Slave Central, it just wasnt right. Those people who enslave us are just losers, basically. If I ever met one I would just slap them (Even thought I'm eleven, and I probably COULDNT slap them, but hey).
I hope you totally agree with me!

What kind of peaceful country has slaves? Surely there forcing someone to work withought pay, they no doubt ask the people nicely to work, or it wouldn't be slavery.

the very nature of this question is flawed. a country can not have slaves and be peaceful. enslaving another is not a peaceful act in it's self. and a country may lack tensions or war with another but they still must enforce the work of the slaves with some means of violence or threat of it.

It's all a matter of degree for me. If it's too much of one I prefer some of the other instead.
