Yes. Look at my name and avatar! It's my favorite movie of all time. It's troubled, no doubt, but it's also beautiful in it's own way. I can't say enough about that movie, it's really something!

I can see where you might think that,but as compared to the classic surrealist films - Blood of a Poet,An Andalusian Dog,etc. - it's basically pretty mainstream,as surrealism goes. I found it repellent but fascinating. For me,it would be his later films during the 90's that would suggest a fundamentally morbid personality. In any event,he's a darling of the art-house curcuit.

That was his college film too - he was still in school when he made that. I actually like it very much! lol I like most all of his movies. Symbolic and smart...and yes - twisted.
