I'm assuming you mean the programs that start when you turn on your computer. Click Start and then Run and type msconfig and then click OK. Go to the Startup tab and uncheck what you don't need. Be careful not to disable something that you do need.

I have Windows Xp and this is how I do it:
Right-click the Start button, and then click Properties.

On the Start Menu tab, click Classic Start menu, and then click Customize.

Click Remove.

Open the Programs folder and then open the Startup folder.

Highlight the items in the Startup folder that you want to remove and click the Remove button.

Click the Close button.

Click the OK button twice.

I hope this helps ☺

Open your Control Panel and choose Taskbar and Start menu - you can alter settings from there.
