Yes i think you should go, it will be a great way to socialise and make new friends. They've made the effort to invite you so i would have thought they want to get to know you better. I used to be very shy but mixing with more people builds up your confidence and don't worry about making a fool of yourself, just have fun!

You will never get to know them, until you go out with them. If you think the night is going bad, have someone call you at a certain time to make sure everything is going ok, if not use the phone call as an excuse to leave. At least you will know if you want to do it again.

Im shy when it comes to meeting new people. But trust me its better to go. it might take a while till you warm up with them. you have a good start, talk about your kids but not the whole night. im sure theres something else in your life you like to talk about. give it a chance and have fun!
