i recently took my lap top on holliday and found i could connect to the net by getting a poor signal from someones wireless system was i doing this illegely

Yes this is illegal! You are stealing someone elses internet service, Also, this is unsafe. Someone could hack into your computer ir they really want to. you need to know what you are connecting to.

Unless you have the owners permission, this is breaking the law, as what you are doing is really classed as theft. I read this in computer active about 3 months ago. What you need to do is find bt wireless hotspots.

Yes..it is illegal, it's called piggy-backing (i think)
Only recently in Britain a man was convicted of just that offence.
And you will be caught if you carry on doing it.

That really depends...some laws say that it is illegal for anyone to access someone else's network without their permission, while other laws state that it is up to the network administrator to make sure that their network is secure.
