How long, before you can have another baby after you have miscarried?

I just miscarried last month. My docotr suggested I wait till I get a normal period to try again. He said to give it about 30-45 days and if no period arrives then he will give me provera to jumpstart it then clomid again.

It is best to wait a few months to a year before attempting another pregnancy. Of course if you are very young, you can wait longer than someone whose clock is ticking. The reason for waiting are numerous. You want to be in the very best physical condition that you can be so you are not disappointed again. Take your prenatal vitamins religiously and eat well. No smoking or drinking as these are significant risks to an early pregnancy and even a little can result in another loss. Also, unless you were very early in your miscarriage there was something that caused you to miscarry. This could have been poor implantation, a genetic problem with the baby an infection or a cervix that couldn't stay closed long enough to carry to term. Your physician should be able to advise you on what he believes was the problem. Sometimes we just don't have the answer. Obviously if you are exercising, eating well and taking care of your body, your chances for a healthy pregnancy increase significantly.

My midwife told me to wait until I had a normal period again or I had a high chance of having another one. I had a normal period the next month and got preg 2 months after my miscarriage.

Usually 2 or 3 periods sometimes it happens sooner!!!

my friend got pregnant within a year after she misscar. i hear that a lot of peple get preg within a year, b/c it takes time for your period to get back on track and then to conceive again, but it might be less.

I would check with your doctor to be safe, but my friend tried right after her mis-carriage, her doctor ok'd it.
