evaluate f(x) for f(3+h) means to substitute (3+h) for x in the equation. so:

f(3+h) = 4(3+h) - 7
= 4(3) + 4h - 7
= 12 +4h - 7
=5+4h

it's simple...f(x) = 4x-7 they are just asking you to find f(3+h) which means substitute all x's for (3+h)...so f(3+h) = 4(3+h)-7. now you substitue...and you get f(3+h) = 12+4h-7 which eqauls 4h+5...You answer is f(3+h)=4h+5.
