I'm sorry but that just sounds disgusting, you never know what a person may have taken or drank that could negatively effect your baby.

They used to do it all the time in the old days but with all the things that people carry now days, like hepatitis and HIV I would not trade breast milk. Breast milk is the best thing for babies and I fed all my kids that way but there is no way on this earth that I would trust someone else unless the Dr. had screened it and said it was OK and even then I don't know I have heard that HIV can remain in the body undetected for years. I would say no.

Well, if you allow your baby to ingest someone else's breastmilk, you are opening them up to the possibility of getting a disease from that woman (HIV, Hepatitis, etc.).
I am not against wet-nursing when it is necessary (for example, if my sister died and she had a newborn, I would certainly act as a wet nurse. I know that I am not harboring any pathogens that could risk the life of the infant, and I would have blood tests to confirm it).
In developed countries, if you are able to nurse your baby, there is no reason to expose the baby to any diseases the other woman may be carrying. In third-world-nations where formula is prohibitably expensive and safe water is hard to come by, it is a different story.
I would personally NEVER allow my child to consume someone else's breastmilk. I have plenty, and I am not willing to take the risk of serious infection. Even La Leche League is not in favor of the practice in developed nations.

Of course you can trade it. I don't know about the immune system boost, but there are breast milk banks for babies who have been abandoned.

Haven't heard that, but lots of people donate their breastmilk to premie babies that need it really badly. I've heard of people choosing babysitters that nurse, just because they don't want their baby getting used to the bottle in the 1st weeks or so.

Providing breast milk for another baby is a very worthwhile and noble thing to do... Women have been doing this for HUNDREDS of years! Ever hear of a wet nurse?? Man, why do people have so many hang ups on this subject??!!

Uhhh, no. I think that is dangerous because you dont know what that other person has been eating or drinking and if it agrees with your baby.
