Nothing short of getting it fixed at a body shop

If you want to learn body work, now is a good time. Buy new pieces and weld them in.

Since you said that it is pretty rusty, I don't think that I would waste effort and money using bondo on it. Take it to a body shop and get several quotes. good luck.

CUT OUT THE RUST ABOUT 2 INCHES FROM WHERE IT STARTS, REPAIR IT WITH SHEET METAL AND WELD IT BACK IN PLACE, FILL IT THE BAD SPOTS WITH BODY FILLER, BLOCK SAND IT, PRIMER AND REPAINT IT.

OR CUT IT OUT AS STATED ABOVE AND PUT SOME RUBBER OFF-ROAD FENDER FLARES ON IT.
