Do some of them provide more variety of funds, if so which company?

I'm talking about online investing ala Etrade, Scottrade, etc...

If you plan on doing your own research and selections I would suggest Scottrade. They are cheaper than most of the discount brokers. If you want a broker that will provide investment advice, Etrade or TDAmeritrade are better choices. There are cheaper brokers, but don't expect the same customer service.
Any broker will sell any mutual fund or etf. They all have a list of No transaction fee funds that they provide. That varies with the brokers. If that is an issue, Charles Schwab has the largest selection of NTF funds.

you want to go with one that has been around and has an excellent track record....I suggest WWW.Principal.com....they where around since the 30's and one of the best in the country..

they are all about the same. so go with the cheapest.
