the media skewers anybody and everybody

American military leaders have been "skewered" since before we became the U.S. There was talk of replacing George Washington after a couple of the disasters and near major disasters which occurred early in the Revolutionary War! And this was one of the greatest Americans, greatest patriots and most courageous and dedicated men who ever lived.
Attacks on military leaders have happened throughout our history. It's just so different this time, because when Washington was criticized, when Patton and MacArthur were relieved, at least the people leveling the criticism were rooting for the United States to win!! Leftist democrats are doing everything in their power to engineer the defeat of the United States in Iraq and in the rest of the War on Terror. And as usual they are joined by their enablers in the media and backed by lunatic groups and websites throughout the country. I don't know of any Senators in 1942 working for the victory of Nazi Germany or the Japanese Empire. Today the list of traitors providing aid and comfort to our enemies while undermining the morale and indeed the safety of our own forces is disgustingly long.

It became fashionable when those who voiced their uneducated opinions started repeating things overheard in other uneducated discussions.

I'm not saying everyone is dumb....yet what I do see are people acting like sheep being lead by wolves in politicians clothing!

The problem with our military leaders is they have to listen to those orders passed down by the civilians who have no military background in many cases. These civilian leaders are also elected officials who want to be re-elected. So lets just blame the military and not those who made the decisions in the first place.

When public opinion pushes military strategy in the direction of failure...you don't expect the public to admit they were wrong?! They blame the military leadership and the President but not those in their political party who most likely were the cause of the issue in the first place.

Don't let me mislead you however. If a military leader screws up on his/her own...then they have only themselves to blame. But in this day of political struggling between party's....it's amazing our military leaders know if they're coming or going!

It's interesting to see how one political party lambasts another over the war in Iraq...yet if memory serves me correctly...President George W. Bush introduced H.J.Res. 114 (Public Law 107–243), which passed the House on October 10, 2002 by a vote of 296-133, and the Senate on October 11 by a vote of 77-23. Seems to me a majority of Republican and Democratic representatives were all for it! Now they want to back-peddle and blame the military!

If you want to win a war...you have to let the experts fight without second guessing those experts...they've trained long and hard to fight well!

Just my thoughts!

Bush did something that is verboten to most Presidents in this country. He used a general to defend his own war policies in front of Congress. When he decided to buck tradition and use Petraeus in that manner, he opened the general up to be criticized and examined freely. For example when MacArthur became convinced he had free hand to criticize Truman's Korean war policy he was removed by Truman. It is not a general's job to either criticize or promote a President's war policy - it is his job to command troops per the President's order. So don't blame Congress for questioning and doubting the general's report, Bush never should have put him in that position to begin with. But having done so, Congress, and the American people, were free to ask the questions and express doubts in the manner they did.

Since Kerry in the 70's calling our troops terrorists and again in 2005 when he again called our troops abusers and terrorists in Iraq. And then there's George Soros and move on.org bought and paid for Hillary, and the Democrat party to disrespect a 4 star General without provocation, or proof of any wrong doing!!

Always has been, McClellan after Bull Run etc. Washington before Trenton, Patton after the slap. when did it become an issue that you can't criticize. that is not American, if you disagree say so, as load as you please. only the last few years of right wing talk radio have these thing been made to appear as new, they are in fact age old and proper.

Since the American Revolution, read some history. McClellan (Civil War) was skewed, MacArthur (WWII) was skewed, Patton was skewed (WWII), lots of Vietnam guys suffered similar fates, and, on the whole, people support Gen Pat., but, think invading Iraq was a failure, that's all.

It started in 2000 when Bush skewered military vets like McCain and continued in 2004 when Bush and Republicans skewered Kerry and other vets. If vets can be skewered, it would only stand to reason that military leaders can be skewered.

by the way, if the are truly military leaders, they can easily handle any skewering.
