Absolutely, after a stressfull day of drop-offs, pick-ups, laundry, cleaning, cooking, and running back and forth after my boys, I would like a nice long puff to make me feel better and get some good sleep.

In some states it already is legal for medical reasons and you cant get fines or be put in jail if you have a perscription from a doctor.
I think it should totally be legal because the benefits greatly outweigh any "risks" the government has been shoving down your throat for the past 50 years.
The Pros
- it is proven to help fight off and prevent cancer
- It is very useful to consume when you have sickness such as a fever or a cold as you will be feeling much better then cough syrup or pills (plus its way faster then having to wait for the medicine to kick in)
- it is a proven pain supressor
- unlike tobacco, marijuana isnt filled with rat poisoning and embalming fluid. It is filled with plant nutrients, and big whoop, they put the same stuff in your tomatos and carrots
- you can die from smoking tobacco. Ever heard of anyone dying because of marijuana? Go back and reread my first pro
- we have all heard of people getting drunk and starting fights or killing people. Who has smoked marijuana and went bezerk for no reason and shot three people?
- although nobody should ever smoke and drive, it is still much safer then drinking and driving
- hemp is the strongest fiber in the world. You can make anything out of it and it grows so fast. Even the origional American flag stitched by Martha Washington was made of hemp.
- by using hemp we could stop chopping down trees and maybe even restore lost rain forests
- artistic value (music, paintings, writing ect)
- if it were legal, millions of dollars would be saved on the failing so-called War On Drugs and that money could go to schools or homeless shelters
The cons
- you get more tar from a joint then a cigarette because there is no filter
- some people get smarter, some people smoke theirselves stupid
- it is mentally addictive but you can quit very easy
- for what your getting, it is more expensive then cigarettes or alcohol
- it is a gateway drug for some people (doesnt mean for everybody, most people are smart enough to say no to meth or cocaine)
The pros outweigh the cons as you can see

Legal, yes, freely available, no.
Legalize it, regulate it in much the same way we do alcohol.
I'd do the same with almost all recreational drugs. Honestly, I can't think of one where I would be opposed to that, even heroin (which, as I understand it, is thousands of times more dangerous that marijuana could ever be).
Also, smoking pot would be regulated in much the same way smoking cigarettes is now. Basically, don't smoke it around people who don't want to get high.
Basically I see it like like this; it's fine and dandy if you want to get high, but:
1) Don't expose others to your smoke.
2) Don't drive while you're high.
3) Don't provide the drug(s) to minors.
4) If you commit a crime while under the influence, your sentence should be increased, IMO.
5) Some portion of the tax revenues from drugs should go into programs to help people quit.

Yes, more people were arrested for simple possession last year than all the people arrested for all the violent crimes combined. We would have a nice money generating tax to pay for schools. We wouldn't have a prison overcrowding situation any longer. We would have the number one cash crop in the country creating lots of legal jobs. I wonder why it has not been made legal already.

Not only would I make it legal but I would offer my services to the government to personally test the marijuana for quality b4 allowing it to be distributed. They could just pay me with samples.

Yes, the drug's negative effects are no worse than alcohol's, it's less addictive than cigarettes and alcohol, the drug has medicinal effects, the drug could be monitored for safety and profits could be taxed for the governent to help society.

yes funny you ask
cuz we were discussing it in my economics class
and the best way to combat drugs is to legalize them y you ask well if something is right there the human temptation goes way down as opposed to if it's illegal and also if we educate people then they are not going to buy them that is why many European countries have made drugs legal and statistics have shown that their way is more effective than our way of banning them.

Yes, I would legalize it. Personally, I don't smoke weed, but I do believe there are worse things out there that are legal now, and shouldn't be.

No, I wouldn't want a bunch of stoned out losers watching my children at daycare, calculating my finances at the bank, or working at any other business that I count on.

Yes, I would. Because it is safer than alcohol and people will find their own method of relaxation when given a need. For traffic safety alone, too.
