K, I lived in NY with my dad until He had to start going out of town a lot, so I had to move to freaking hillbilly town bristol, tennessee, with my grandmother, I am a 13 year old Italian-American NY girl, I don't like to run around and play or watch cartoons nor am I girly. and every girl in my middle school is girly and all the kids are still little in the head they just don't want to grow up! I have always liked the Italian-American tough attitude, my Favorite people in the world being the man who organized organized crime Lucky Luciano, Frank castello, al Capone, John gotti, and so on. I mean it seems like all these kids like to do is watch cartoons, anime, and run around outside and play, where is I like to sit and play cards, and more quiet things, all of them running around like that just aggravates me to no end, I am surrounded by a bunch of rednecked kids who makefun of my accent and call me a Yankee, and Gino! I just can't get along or stand these kids! what should i do?

be yourself.

it sounds like you'll need to accept them if you want to have real-world friends. if not, you'll have to accept that Internet friends are the best you can do.

good luck!

And people wounder why we can not get along with people from other countries. Just like evolution we have adapted to our environment. If that environment involves people of the same culture that is what we become. It is not in your DNA that your attitude and view of things comes, its from your neighbors. The same has occurred in Tennessee. Most are like everyone else in the things they like and what they do.

If you can't go back to New York, you have 2 choices. Stick to you attitudes, likes and dislikes or try to fit in. As long as you consider them hillbillies and rednecks you will not make a successful transition, and I would suspect you will lead a lonely life. This will follow you the rest of your life.

On the other hand you can show them your better side, laugh when they make negative comments. For those that don't stop, develop good retorts. Don't be nasty, calling those who call you a yankee a rebel is not and insult but lets them know you not ashamed of coming from the north, and it should result in their dropping that taunt.

Look for people who are less hard core nasty to make friends with. At your age taunting and insults are normal and a challenge to see what you are made of. Anything you are sensitive to will be a target of their taunts. Comming from a different culture just gives them more targets. Your tough additude serves you well in your home comunity, it will only keep you lonely and unliked here.

Try to enjoy activities they enjoy, you might find some you actually like. Making friends with your new neighbors is the only way you will be happy. It will also prepare you to be an adult and to be at home anywhere and to get along with people you might not necessarily like.

I used to live in New York until I moved to Arizona and a big change for me. You need to adopt There's always 1 person anywhere where you can relate too. My advice keep trying to find some one like you. I used to go to a school with Spanish and Blacks now I go to school full of punk white kids but I was able to find 2 people to relate too. You'll get over it it grows on you it takes time. Or try a different school

If they want to have anything to do with you, they're more mature than you are. Just accept them the way they are.

And why in the world do you look up to murderers? Is that REALLY something to admire?

If this isn't what you want to hear, tough. Might as well make the most of wherever you are...otherwise, you'll never be happy. Trust someone who's moved around a lot.

Ford said, "you really put allot of effort into undermining our president". Yes, I agree and I'm not sure if Ford meant it as a bad thing or not, but I want to commend you RLP for the effort you put in to point out things that are wrong. Good job. I continue to do the same in my own special way and hope that others do as well. We need to remind people (especially our youth) that approximately 50% of the population disapproves of him and what he is doing. I sure wish the Obama put more emphasis into crossing party lines and recognized that there is about 50% who disagree with him. We'd be lots better off. I hope our next president, in 2013, will cross party lines and help us all work together. In the meantime, we must continue "the fight" and I thank you.

I am so sorry I cannot help you with that. You see, I too live in Tennessee. I understand from reading your question that there is a real maturity (or lack thereof) issue here. That is evident from your inane genarilization, and your idolization of people who have made no positive contributions to the society they lived in. Of course what do I know? I'm just a simple old hillbilly.
