so many say "their fighting for us" << but what are they protecting us against?

You'll all entilted to your opnion , however i don't see the need to label such harsh comments to me, you addressing that i should grow up? and or die? I think there is no need for that
Im simply addressing my own opinion,

Firstly i must say, I do feel pity for those who the leave behind, it its a terrible thing to loose someone.

I would also like to adress the point, that i feel pity for soilders who die for justible cause? At the moment with Iraq, do i believe there is one? No.
So many of you are saying they are protection us against terroists? Please elaborate, what exactly are they doing in stopping this? Can terroism ever be controlled? No,100s of Rebels are being killed at the expensive of 1000s of civilans? Do you cause this a justible reason to fight?

"Their doing what their told to do" Im sorry but do you call that a justiful reason? If they dont want to do something they can clearly leave. Many people go to the army out of the believe they should be loyal to their country, again do you call that a good enough reason to fight?

I feel as though the Media has projected such a Brave image for these men who fight in Iraq, Why is it considered automatically brave for someone to fight in the army? Is it brave to fight to fight just for the image?

I dont think it is the UKs business to deal with Iraq, we have no need to be in there, Over the last few years? Has any achievement been made? No. Why has so little soilders been called back, As the UK and USA, are to embrassed to admit, there is was no need to invade.

I hope we can care to disagree, however i doubt that will happen, This Qs will be gone in a few hours, as i would be breaking my freedom of speech.

I do believe that you may be the only one. If you don't know what they are protecting you against, Maybe you should turn on the T.V. , Look online. SOMETHING!

Would you like to live like all of the other countries are? Would you like someone to tell you that you can't go outside today, or take a shower, or brush your teeth? You have so much freedom, You dont even know. Its because of those soldiers that you can do whatever you please, Including getting online, In your safe house, asking such questions on Yahoo. It's not the soldiers fault that they are over over seas, But it is what they signed up for. They protect YOUR freedom.

What if someone else came to your house with a new set of rules? Thats what would happen if they weren't out there DYING for YOU!

Thats just my thoughts, and Im sure plenty share the same view.

They do what our government deems necessary not necessarily to protect us, but more along the lines of acting as a "World Peace Enforcer." I don't know if you have noticed but the United States acts a lot like the UN and watches countries around the world to ensure that basic human rights are fulfilled, that people are free from totaltarian rule, and just to help others. By doing this we make friends, and enemies. This has always been the United States way. I pity you for being so ungrateful. They fight for us and others and whether or not you support the cause they fight not for the cause but because they trust this country to do what is necessary.

I am against any war and a soldier has to do his duty that what he signed and swore an oath to do. How could anybody not sympathise with their lot - so you think they want to do it. Not on your life, and remember some day your life may have to depend on our defence forces. The only reason there are dangerous weapons of mass destruction built in civilized countries is for protection to that one mad baaastard who may press the button. There is a lot we will never understand about politics and war globally. There are people dying because of no help from soldiers, no help from politicians unless that country has oil or some other commodity. Its so complicated that I never give it a thought except to feel sad for the families and their sons.

You have the right to feel anyway you want about our soldiers. No one should judge you if you support them or not.

The reason is that is what are solider are doing anytime they go into action in the world. They're fighting for you to be able to make free thinking decisions without the reprocutions of a oppressive society.

I don't agree with the war on terror or in Iraq myself as you can't have a war on an ideal & Iraq is just Bush doing things for his daddy. But the troops will always have my respect.

Yes. The people you should feel no pity for are the politicians like Bush/Cheney etc who sent them in harm's way.

The soldiers don't have a choice as to where they are sent. They are being shot at and bombed, whether or not you agree with the reasons that they are there.
You should be more compassionate about them, and their families as well.

Theoretically, they are fighting terrorists like Al Queda there, so we aren't fighting them here.

The soldiers do as they are ordered to do as a proper soldier should. You should have no pity for your representatives in Washington for they give the orders and you should support our troops. We will not repeat the Vietnam War over again and if you have a problem with that, I'm quite sure many countries who hate Americans will welcome you with open arms and burning American flags.

In some cases they are protecting themselves against poverty and taking a chance that they can get some decent training and live better when they get out of the army. I don't attribute noble patriotic motives to them but I sincerely wish them well and feel real sadness when one of them is killed. Those who believe, pray for them.

Simply - Yes.
You should not take any resentment out on the soldiers. No matter what the validity of the war they fight whether you agree or not a soldier is only doing his job, he/she has to do as they are told. You would be glad they were there to fight for you if another Hitler for example were to appear.

I can understand how you might hate the government for the screwed up mess in Iraq but how can you hate the soldiers? They are simply following orders. Some of these people were in the military before 9/11 and some go in not because they want to go over there (who the hell would WANT to go over there?) but because when you dont have alot of money to go to college you have to do something with your life.

sorry Kermy i don't agree on this one....my sons are in the forces and i feel sorry for them every day because it could be their last day on earth, that goes for anyone else who is serving our country, these are brave lads and girls out there in terrifying situations...they pay taxes AND fight a war for the power hungry cowards who put them there in the first place, not us....but i would not say that i don;t feel sorry for them, i DO feel sorry for the parents and wives who have lost someone fighting a war though...imagine yourself in their situation...they are NOT protecting US they are doing the dirty work for the greedy politicians...that's it...

edit...sons are 23 and 20 one has 2 sons under age 5....they are the ones i feel sorry for...they don't get to see their dad as much as they would like to...have a heart Kermy....or at least delete this question because your not a very popular person at this moment...
