If we could carve the US into three equal segments geographically, one for libs, one for conservatives and one for indies, would you oppose it? Each segment could have their own laws and own governing body. That way you can have all the universal health care and welfare you want so long as you pay for it. Sound good?

Indies? Whatever group that is.........
Only problem with your idea is that the conservative segment would only have about 30% of the the current US population. Not near enough people for a solid tax base to fund your neo-con military agenda. With no poor and working poor people in the conservative segment who would the neo-cons have to fight their wars for them? And with no middle class in the conservative segment who would the rich corporate elite of the neo-cons get to work for them? The neo-con elite might actually have to work hard for an honest days pay, they might have to take out their own trash, mow their own lawns, and god forbid, wipe their own butts. The conservative segment would crumble in due time.

Of course I would oppose this process (though I am a registered Independent and not a "lib" as you say). This is a ridiculous way to solve the problems of this country. This advocates giving up and going our separate ways instead of working together in keeping this the UNITED States of America.

Wow! I hope this is intended as a joke, because it is a terrible idea. One of the beauties of the American system is the ability to disagree on issues and still remain united as a nation. I know it is often difficult for people to believe, but both sides do need each other. No matter how dire the disputes might seem in places like Yahoo Answers, the country is not really that divided. Average people still inhabit this country, they go to work, socialize with friends and generally live their lives without causing much harm to their fellows. Divide the country up into separate entities and that will come to an end for all of us. United we stand, Divided we fall!

No, I happen to like the fact that people have different opinions and ideas on how to run this country. Without the differences, nothing would ever change.

No, why would this be a solution? How about we just carve out wedges for each political party? I don't think at all that separating people for different political views is the answer...

Are you for real? How anti-america is this?

I have to really thank the present administration for it's divisive tactics that have led some in this country to think this is a viable solution. Get a grip, people, we are all still Americans here.

I don't like your idea, my family would be split appart. One of my children is registered Republican, one is a Democrat and the other is registered Independent. Fortunately for them, I raised them to have their own opinions. Unfortunately, we can never discuss politics with one another.
