Alice is a bonafide musical genius who inspired hundreds of rock bands (some of whom are in the Hall of Fame even though they aren't nearly as good as him). He's recorded at least 12 A+ quality albums and his other 15 albums are at least B+ or higher (not including Easy, Dada, Zipper, Flush, and Raise Yer Fist). On his 12 best, every single song on each album is great...no filler (the Rolling Stones will put 3 good songs and 10 boring songs on their albums and they made the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame long ago). He was the biggest rock star in the world for 3 years. Sinatra performed his songs. John Lennon loved his work. Somehow I can't see Ol' Blue Eyes recording No Sleep till Brooklyn. Yes, the four Beastie Boys (that's right there are FOUR of them, not 3) do put out interesting instrumentals too, but they are being nominated for their rap music which is juvenile, childish, and geared for their moronic audience. Madonna, Chic, and Donna Summer are NOT rock n roll acts.

I totally agree. There are many great rock bands that are being over looked year after year. Two great bands off the top of my head are Rush and Yes. Sad very sad when the likes of Madonna and Donna Summer are put in this category of R&R Hall of Famers....Blah!
Oh and did I mention that my fav album of Alice's is Billion Dollar Babies. Love it.

The Rock and Roll hall of fame is for all genres of music..Grandmaster Flash??
My complaint is that Chic, and Beastie Boys had very few big compilations. Chic made 3 records. I would nominate Bernard Edwards and Nile Rogers for their total work including producing and other groups like the Power Station. Madonna is getting in! Alice Copper should be as well.

Because. The RocknRoll hall of fame is completely insane.
Alice has had 7 Platinum albums, 2 gold albums, Many top ten singles, and basically invented stage theatrics. Alice has waaaay more than enough qualifications to make it in the Hall of Fame. Madonna? Wtf? She's the POP Queen. Not rock. Donna Summers - RocknRoll? If you were to say "Donna Summer rocks!!" you would get your *** beaten down in a heartbeat.
R&R HOF has lost all credibility and I will therefore never give a rat's *** about what they do ever again.

I'm actually beginning to think it's a compliment to the artist not to be in the Eock And Roll Hall Of Fame. There are so many mediocre and even lousy performers who are in yet others like Chicago, Grand Funk, Three Dog Night, and Steppenwolf aren't in. These artists, along with Alice Cooper, influenced me a lot more than those the critics loved but whose music was never played on the radio and never sold a lot of copies.

Rock and roll music is the music of teen rebellion, so I see no need for a hall of fame. And the business that is the hall of fame is so watered down, get ready for Barry Manilow and Helen Reddy to be inducted.

first of all, Beastie Boys are Multi Platinum as far as albums sales, where as, Cooper is mostly Gold. No other white hip/hop group can come close to these guys. and to make it even better, they actually PLAY INSTRUMENTS instead of the likes of Eminem and all that fancy computerized crap... Beasties have been around for 20+ years, still making great music, i'd be surprised if any child these days has even heard of them with all this fiddy, diddy, and jiggy B.S. going around and passing as rap music....

Bands arent chosen by the fans but figuers in the music industry. Because of that, some bands will NEVER get in because of dumb grudges held by record executives and such. I wouldnt be suprised if Alice Cooper was one of those artists because he was the Marilyn Manson of his day and ALOT of people hated him and still do. It could also be that when voting time comes around, the voting members simply dont like his music and dont give him a second thought.

When a group is nominated for the HOF I think they are nominated for the totality of their work, so to say that the Beasties are being nominated only for their rap is wrong. They are very talented, and yes I agree that Mix Master Mike never gets his due!

Grow up man...there's already a huge-*** tons of old acts that aren't in yet influential. The Cure being one of them. If the rock and roll hall of fame ticks you off, why not go create your own rock hall where you can induct everyone you want and be happy. And be glad some hard rock acts have began to get in recently...Black Sabbath, Van Halen, etc...
And no one ever disses the Beasite Boys. No one. Go check into a mental hospital.
